Have you ever bought a pair of TOMS shoes? Like TOMS, many companies are using the business model of B1G1—”buy one, give one”. In this model, for every purchase someone makes the company gives a product to someone in need. This has a huge appeal among consumers…but according to an article in The New York Times, it’s questionable whether B1G1 handouts can produce lasting change.
